The Community Festival At Garden City Reserve initiative of the voluntary organisation Port People Inc sponsored by City of Port Phillip,Port of Melbourne Corporation plus various local busineses. It was a well organised festival in a beautiful park with a number of activities to suit all ages. Queen Jigzie hosted the festival warming the community as she welcomed them in traditional Jamaican style inviiting them to walk,talk,sing, dance even take a stroll down to Solace Market. The highlight of the day was the children! They were gorgeous joining in all the activities and showing some wicked moves as they danced Salsa,Zumba and the Argentinean Tango.The event concluded with Queen Jigzie leading everyone chanting and dancing Reggae to the rhythmic soulful drumming of Ru.CL

Queen Jigzie connected with members of the well respected, legendary Jamaican band The Congos. The Congos one of the headline acts at AWME (Australasian World Music Expo) have been around for decades travelling the world capturing audiences with their soulful Roots Reggae sound. They performed at Melbourne’s Hifi Bar. Queen Jigzie was honoured to introduce these amazing artists from her birth land to the Melbourne crowd.

After a wonderful performance of music,song,dance and storytelling Queen Jigzie shimmed with her audience in Congo lines to the outside courtyard. The courtyard was transformed to a blaze of colour , movement and shimmying bodies moving to the rhythmic drum beats of Mento, Ska,Reggae from percussionist Ru.CL

In January 2011, Queen Jigzie will again be on stage co-hosting the Jamaican Raggamuffin Festival.

This year’s exciting line up includes: Mary J Blige, Jimmy Cliff, Maxi Priest, Sean Paul, Kymani Marley, The Original Wailers, The Black seeds & The Red Eyes.

Queen Jigzie will join Ru C.L and DJ Shi Kung for the second year in a row.

Televised live from the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on the 15th of August, Queen Jigzie sang the Jamaican national anthem before a netball match between the Netball Diamonds (Australia) and the Sunshine Girls (Jamaica).

Queen Jigzie has been invited to perform the Jamaican national anthem at other public events. Her vivacity and powerful performance combined with her Jamaican heritage, made her the perfect choice for this international netball event.

The Holden Netball Test Series has delivered brilliant netball, with three matches between the Netball Diamonds and Jamaica’s flamboyant Sunshine Girls and then a battle with arch-rivals the Silver Ferns. The competition has shown international netball at its best, and has given fans a chance to see the three teams in action before they head to Delhi in October for the Commonwealth Games.
